چکیده

In a previous paper we have proven that any multi-resolution analysis of L2(R) produces, for even values of the inverse filling factor and for a square lattice, a single-electron wave function of the lowest Landau level (LLL) which, together with its (magnetic) translated, gives rise to an orthonormal set in the LLL. We have also discussed the inverse construction. In this paper we simplify the procedure, clarifying the role of the kq-representation. Moreover, we extend our previous results to the more physically relevant case of a triangular lattice and to odd values of the inverse filling factor. We also comment on other possible shapes of the lattice as well as on the extension to other Landau levels. Finally, just as a first application of our technique, we compute (an approximation of) the Coulomb energy for the Haar wavefunction, for a filling ν = 1 3 . Relations between multi-resolution analysis and quantum mechanics

We discuss a procedure to construct multi-resolution analyses (MRA) of L2(R) starting from a given seed function h(s) which should satisfy some conditions. Our method, originally related to the quantum mechanical hamiltonian of the fractional quantum Hall effect (FQHE), is shown to be model independent. The role of a canonical map between certain canonically conjugate operators is discussed. Th...

Multi-Resolution Analysis and Fractional Quantum Hall Effect: an Equivalence Result

In this paper we prove that any multi-resolution analysis of L2(R) produces, for some values of the filling factor, a single-electron wave function of the lowest Landau level (LLL) which, together with its (magnetic) translated, gives rise to an orthonormal set in the LLL. We also give the inverse construction. Moreover, we extend this procedure to the higher Landau levels and we discuss the an...

Hierarchical Wave Functions and Fractional Statistics in Fractional Quantum Hall Effect on the Torus

One kind of hierarchical wave functions of Fractional Quantum Hall Effect (FQHE) on the torus are constructed. The multi-component nature of anyon wave functions and the degeneracy of FQHE on the torus are very clear reflected in this kind of wave functions. We also calculate the braid statistics of the quasiparticles in FQHE on the torus and show they fit to the picture of anyons interacting w...

Mutual statistics, braid group, and the fractional quantum Hall effect

We show that the notion of mutual statistics arises naturally from the representation theory of the braid group over the multi-sheeted surface. A Hamiltonian which describes particles moving on the double-sheeted surface is proposed as a model for the bilayered fractional quantum Hall effect (FQHE) discovered recently. We explicitly show that the quasi-holes of the bilayered Hall fluid display ...
